Meet Mdm Lim Pek Kee (left), a centenarian who is blessed with cooking and sewing skills. Imagine, after a long arduous day, you unlock the doors of your house and the fragrance of delicious home-cooked meal greets you. You slip into your favourite home clothes, and the familiar sense of “home” envelopes you. This is the life of Mdm Too, Mdm Lim’s daughter, who is also her sole caregiver.
With Alzheimer’s creeping in, Mdm Lim’s well-being has undoubtedly been affected. But this did not affect her daughter’s dedication to caring for her. Despite having her own health issues, Mdm Too’s love for her mother is evident as she is always prioritising her mother’s needs over her own, trying to think of ways to make her mother more comfortable at home and encouraging her to attend day care to be more engaged in activities.
