To most, drawing a straight line on a piece of paper poses no difficulty. But to some, it is an achievement.
At a tender age, Teddi, an AWWA Community Integration Service client, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Though his diagnosis seemingly limited his ability to participate, his positive outlook tore down those barriers, excelling on both of his favourite topics – science and sports.
Positive traits such as responsibility come naturally to Teddi as he completes his homework promptly and proactively expands his science knowledge through educational videos. Most recently, he attained top grades for all his subjects in his examination. He initially struggled to use the ruler to draw straight lines in construction math. His perseverance paid off when, after months of after-class practice sessions, he finally mastered drawing straight lines without a ruler.
Academic aside, he actively contributes to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) club as a group leader, serving as a role model to his fellow STEM enthusiasts. This only fuels his love for science as he gets to live out his passion.
His inclination to sports was evident when he participated in the Para-Athletics (Singapore) and 2021 Haw Par Junior and Youth Athletics Meet, where he emerged with medals for both competitions.
Well done, Teddi! Your journey is truly inspiring.
