“As of 2022, I have dedicated 19 years of my life to AWWA School @ Napiri, adopting a personalised teaching approach to ensure all my students are given an equal opportunity to learn at their own pace. During my time at AWWA, I try my best to support my students by planning activities that enhance their participation in the classroom. Seeing them participate actively in class brings warmth to my heart. Counting small wins is very important because every achievement – big or small – is still a milestone achieved.

I believe it is important to establish a positive relationship with my student’s parents as well so that we can work together to improve the learning and well-being of their loved ones. I hope that during my interactions with their parents, I can pass my knowledge to them so that they are equipped with the resources and know-how to continue caring for their children at home.

On the topic of togetherness, we also work collaboratively with teachers from other departments so that our students receive holistic care. Through our regular meet-ups, we share tips and tricks that we can apply in our classrooms. I find that this culture of sharing benefits both us as teachers as well as our students.

I will never stop in my pursuit to ensure my students are empowered so that they can lead dignified lives in school, at home, and in the community.”
