Teachers’ Day Feature: Teacher Shalini

In a special edition of #VoicesofAWWA and in celebration of #TeachersDay this Friday, let’s hear from Shalini, teacher at AWWA School.
“At the end of the day, teaching children with additional needs guides me to reflect on my own personality as a person. The past 11 years as a teacher at AWWA School mentored me to understand more about myself and also the values I hold close to my heart.
When our students show the slightest improvement, it is very rewarding. What excites me most about this job is that each student is unique and different. The challenges are varied and each day is like going on a mini adventure!
This job tends to be physically and mentally draining and as educators of students with additional needs, we are often aware of the challenges the role entails. Thus, we work really closely with the caregivers of our students and fellow colleagues to ensure that we provide our students with the most meaningful learning experience. I am grateful to have colleagues I can count on, and it’s a team effort to encourage one another.
I would like take this opportunity to wish all teachers who are dedicated to create a difference in their students lives, a very Happy Teachers’ Day!”
