In a special edition of #VoicesOfAWWA and in celebration of Father’s Day, we shine a light on some extraordinary fathers. Meet Mr Ravi, a dedicated father who strives to provide the best for his family despite his challenges in life.
“Last September, I suffered a mild heart attack and went for an open-heart surgery. As the sole breadwinner of my family, I have worked as a freelance tour guide and a private hire driver. Recently due to COVID-19, as there are less passengers, I have also started delivering newspapers to earn extra money. I’d like to think of myself as a fighter, so despite all these challenges in my life, I try to keep fighting for my family.
I’m very blessed to have a happy family, with 2 wonderful children. To spread my blessings, I also believe in helping the community. In my free time, I volunteer with the resident committee. I help to distribute masks and sanitisers, and meal coupons to the needy in my neighbourhood.
I would like to encourage everyone out there, whatever happens in life, to just take things in stride and not be demoralised! Life is not a straight route and sometimes we need to take u-turns, so just enjoy the ride while it lasts.”
