“There was once I supported a class on a learning journey to an inclusive sports festival at Tampines Sports Hub. We saw many persons with additional needs from different walks of life playing sports together. That was a huge eye-opener because you don’t see them play bowling or basketball or badminton very often in public. In general, I feel that we hardly ever see persons with additional needs that often at all. I believe there are still certain stigmas attached to being an individual with additional needs. Hence, as an associate psychologist working with children with additional needs, what motivates me is the vision for Singapore to transform into a truly inclusive society. I hope that one day we can confidently say “inclusion” is a part and parcel of our daily lives and not merely in such one off events.”
