A Story about my Sister and I

“I have an older twin sister. It was easy for my parents to compare milestones growing up. My sister could walk, but I couldn’t. She could sit up properly, but I couldn’t. Growing up, I used to always ask my mom, “Why was I born like that?”. She explained that while giving birth to me, there was a lack of oxygen leading to a damage to my brain, which led to me being diagnosed with cerebral palsy when I was one years old. Now, I’ve learnt to let go of that resentment. I believe there is a reason for everything that happens and I don’t blame my mother anymore. I have learnt to accept it. Nevertheless, my sister has been supportive and often looks after me. We used to fight a lot, but now we’re a lot closer. Hopefully we’ll get to visit Taiwan together soon.”
