Rayyan was born with cerebral palsy and global development delay (GDD). He attends AWWA EIC @ Kim Keat, and is primarily taken care of by his grandmother who supports him in his daily living, as well as bringing him to school three times a week and to the hospital for his monthly check-ups. When he first entered EIC @ Kim Keat, he was unable to sit, stand, or hold something, but much has improved today as he is able to show non-verbal responses when people talk to him, control his head movements better, and maintain eye contact with people interacting with him.
Head teacher at AWWA EIC @ Kim Keat, Ms Fazlinda Mohd Affendi Nasir, said that AWWA provided Mdm Sakinah with assistive technology such as strollers, activity chairs and shower chairs for Rayyan. AWWA social worker, Ms. Nurharyati Mohamed Sa’at, provides a listening ear for Mdm Sakinah, whenever she experiences challenges taking care of Rayyan.
